There are many different stories of the creation of vampires. Tales of those taking stands against God, or being cursed by him. Some would say it is the evolution of man, for when there is nothing left to feed on in this world. Yet when it became real, when Vampires truly walked amongst men, it's cause was not wrought from the natural process or a divine power. It was man's own hand that created these monsters. When the nuclear missiles fell upon the earth, not all were effected the same. Death, rampant destruction was the natural course, and those that did not die from the radiation were mutated by it. Yet some survived pure, and some just thought they did. It was not obvious at first, unexplained pains, a longing inside for something they could not name. What they did not know, was that while they were not mutated out first on the outside, a radioactive disease had entered into their system. For the first cases, it began with a blindness, the glaring sun capturing their vision in a haze of white, where only the barest shapes could be seen. Those afflicted moved into the subway system, but over a short time the pain only grew worse. So consuming it was practically crippling. Weakened from the illness, and slowly being driven mad by the pain, the stricken were starving. They had no recourse but to consume what they could, and that meant the living. Some who retained a shred of their dignity, cooked their food, but those that did not, those driven beyond civilization, ate the flesh and blood like animals. It was they who survived. The irradiated blood, fresh from the body gave momentary relief to their suffering, an effect not present in the burned meat of charred flesh. Strengthened by the fuel, they killed the other afflicted, those who would not dine upon the raw meat, and made meals of them as well. The survivors began to notice other changes about themselves. While they could not see in the daylight, their eyes would attune to the darkness, allowing them to see even in pitch black. As well as this, they found their reflexes highly attuned, and a superior stamina, however, without the fresh blood, they were completely defenseless, unable to move because the pain was so great.

Predictably, the human natures of greed and survival pushed them to war. Defining themselves by their few communities, they would attack the others with ferocity. Not for the sake of ruling the sewers, but to feast. To avoid the pain. With each passing day, the numbers dwindled, and eventually, this path would lead to their destruction. It was Dmitri Nikitin, one who had become a leader of his own house, who saw the impending doom and sought to fight against it's oncoming wave. Calling the other leaders under a truce, the various Houses met, laying down the laws of the Underworld, deciding they would cull the world above before they were all gone. There were of course, those who opposed this choice, but these Houses, united under Dmitri's leadership soon silenced them. Thus was their world born.

Aliases: Bloodsuckers, Leeches, Vamps, the Undead, Cannibal, the affected

Appearance: Vampires are pale, fanged and well groomed – their usual undeniable attractiveness duping many survivors and citizens into trusting them in hopes of romance. They wear clothes of gothic origin for the most part, the men in suits, the women usually in dresses when at leisure and not on the prowl. When in fighting they tend to wear full, black body suits with terrifying masks to  further insight fear in their prey – and they usually work.

Abilities: Heightened senses (smell, sight, reflexes), have enhanced vision at night. Can die as any human would, needs irradiated blood to fight off the pain destroying their bodies. They usually prey on mutants due to their sure levels of irradiated blood, but also feed on humans who too have a certain level of radiation in their blood, but nowhere near to the effectiveness or depths of that of a mutant.

Hierarchy:

Family

The King/Queen are the rulers of all the Houses in the Wastelands.
A House is a collection of Vampire families into one community. This is ruled by a Patriarch/Matriarch who are addressed as Father or Mother.
A Family is that which it is, a Vampire family. This is lead by Vampire Ladies/Lords.

  1. Vampire King/Queen
  2. Patriarch/Matriarch (Vampire Council)
  3. Vampire Lady/Lords
  4. Death Dealers
  5. Vampires
  6. Vampire Slave

Vampire King/ Queen: The King and Queen are the rulers of all the Houses .They orchestrate attacks , maintain the unity between the Houses and order the further settlement of the tunnels by promoting Vampire Lords into Patriarchs and Matriarchs so that their influence may slowly spread and devour the world.

Patriarch/Matriarchs: The heads of the vampire Houses, the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the Underworld society rule over their House with an iron fist, ordering their daughters and sons into marriages that’ll enhance their status and overseeing that the dream of Vampire Dominance comes true by making sure the Lords and Death Dealers are playing their roles properly. Aside from throwing private parties for their fellow families and possibly plotting each other's downfalls – the Patriarchs and Matriarchs enjoy the comforts of their homes, usually depriving their ‘children’ of their slaves if they take a particular liking to one or all of them – and are instrumental in the success of the united Vampire front. They compromise the members of the council, and on a weekly basis report to the King and Queen progress made by their families – in hopes of reward and appraisal so that one day when the King and Queen step from their thrones – their family may be the next in line as the royal family.

Vampire Lady/Lords:
Cruel, harsh and intelligent – Vampire Lords are the next step up after mandatory service as a death dealer, or being a well spoken non-combatant. They are the Captains of the Vampires, going by names such as Lord Vanderbilt. Often, Lords become arrogant with their prowess and seek to build their own havens away from their patriarchs and matriarchs – causing conflict and inner Vampire warring when things tend to get a little testy where the lines of power and authority begin to bump heads. They rule over their Family, giving them the practice necessary to perhaps one day move aside their House heads and sit on the throne themselves.

Death Dealers: Vampires who tire of seducing humans and killing them can do something a bit more edgy and fun – such as make it their profession. But, not only do Death Dealers enslave and kill humans for their Houses, they also directly fight the enemies of the Underworld such as mutants, outlaws and Shotgun Knights that work against their authority and law. Death Dealers are assassin like in attack, moving quickly upon their prey in the cover of the night, slipping behind them and slitting their throat before they can even have a chance to touch their gun. Death Dealers are usually found in black body suits with masks fit to their faces, swords and silenced pistols as their tools for murder. They do not drink the blood of their victims, that act it is above them now. They only drink from their slaves and blood pouches awaiting them in their homes. The soldiers, the warriors, the ninjas, the assassins – Death Dealers are every bit just as scary as their name, only surpassed in deadliness by the Vampire Lord.

Vampires: Vampires are your everyday, average vampire: sucking blood, seducing each other and humans, enslaving humans, drinking more blood and throwing a killer subterranean party every now and then. The Vampires are heavily immersed in Vampire politics for the most part and also make up the working class (along with their slaves). They are doctors, scavengers, dancers, singers, weapon makers – they are the general foundation to the Underworld society. Who is to blame them when they have their fun? They can also seek to rise into power through ways of persuasion and speech, or by becoming Death Dealers. Whatever their path may be, there is no reason for them simply to revel in the fact that they are vampires, and want nothing more than to enjoy their lives.

Vampire Slaves: Humans captured or tricked by the ways of the vampire find themselves collared and chained by their fearful oppressors. They are usually found crawling about on all fours like animals, or walking up right if allowed. They must bow to every vampire that comes across them, and follow their Master wherever they go. For the poor saps that actually like being slaves – they can be found working at bars and doing manual labor all about the Underworld . Sometimes though, and this is a rare occurrence, if a human behaves themselves well enough, they too may join the brood of the vampire. That is of course if they work hard enough. If a mutant finds themselves as a vampire slave – they should just be glad they’re not dead and try to escape while they still can - since death couldn't be too far behind.

Places of Interest:

The Underworld – Blood Fang Terminal aka The King's Court- Formerly a station where many mainline subway terminals met, it is now the main gathering places for vampires – and those who wish to join the lifestyle. Here the Houses meet and coexist, sharing their humans and blood, loading their guns and sharpening their tools for war and dominance over all. Oh, they also throw the sexiest of rave parties there as well. That is of course if you’re into a bunch of Vampires biting each other while stripping out of their clothes and dancing the night away. Other than recreation, this is where the King lives an presides and the Underworld has their most important meetings and planning sessions - which is why it is also called the King's court. They have also found the means to keep the subway trains functional meaning they can travel – and travel in good numbers – while carrying a fort’s worth of weapons with them

Blood Fang Lounge- A bar and dance hall built for all the vampire partying one can handle. Be prepared for a fun and bloody night.
